Pope Proclaims Year Devoted to St. Paul
 
A Jubilee Year dedicated to St. Paul will be held from June 29, 2008 to June 29, 2009 to mark the 2000th anniversary of the apostle's birth. Pope Benedict XVI announces the Pauline Year at a vesper service on June 28 in the Basilica of St. Paul's Outside the Walls in Rome.
 
The year will include a myriad of events in the areas of ecumenism, liturgy, prayer, art, history, archaeology, pastoral initiatives, and pilgrimages.

Fr. Jerome Murphy-O'Connor,
renowned scholar-lecturer on St. Paul came to the Detroit archdiocese in September of 2008 to present "St. Paul, His Story." He appeared in conjunction with the 175th anniversary celebration of St. Paul on the Lake Church in Grosse Pointe Farms. Topics included the life and times of the Apostle to the Gentiles, his missionary activity, and his letters that form a significant portion of the New Testament.
